National Carry AcademyPay Attention To The Situation, Not The Gun

Suppose that someone enters a restaurant who is against people carrying firearms. He immediately notices somebody dealing with his own business. That particular person is carrying a gun without his badge, so the anti-gunner thinks he needs to be the good guy, writing articles full of nonsense. I will definitely save you some time reading, it’s full of crap! Stop for a moment because some questions have came to mind:
How am I supposed to know who is the “good guy” or the “bad guy?” Is it the one holding the gun?
I’m just a normal person, how am I supposed to know if that person is a “good guy” or a “bad guy?”In most cases, anti-gunners loose their control when they meet a person carrying a gun without a badge on him. Okay, if I wear a police uniform and bring a badge, those anti-gunners will be okay with me carrying a gun. Most of the violent people do this because it helps them to approach their target.
It’s not easy to know who is the “good guy” or the “bad guy.” That is why many people carry a gun, out of 100 percent, 99.99 percent of them are nice people. At least they are good enough to be responsible for their actions, so they will be any random threat to me. There is a very small number of the population that might decide to do random shooting, like for example in the restaurant that I’m eating, this would be fun for them. I know I can’t tell who they are, but I always make sure that I have my gun to defend myself against them.
In general, if a person carrying a firearm is not shooting at a random place with many people, there is a bigger chance that they are one of the “good guys.”
Let’s put it this way, I’m also carrying a firearm. Should I shoot at another person who is also carrying a gun in order to know if he is a “bad guy.,” There’s a much higher possibility that he is a “good guy.” Should I stop myself from shooting and give another person a chance to prove that he is not a “bad guy” or be a “good guy” and let him think that I’m a “bad guy” and fire a gun first?
Let me ask you, is there a secret code or handshake that “good guys” use to recognize each other? If the answer is yes, then how about a “bad guy” who pretends to be a “good guy” using that handshake and doing his evil acts?
Actually, it’s very simple. You need to hold your fire first, and wait until there’s a signal that someone will harm you or kill you. If you saw someone in the restaurant carrying a firearm, they are not a “bad guy” it’s not a threat at all, why? It’s because they are not creating any damage.
For me, those strangers who have a cigarette and are walking towards me asking to borrow a lighter are more likely to be a threat rather than a person who is carrying a gun and eating a meal in the restaurant. Since I don’t smoke at all, they should not assume I have a lighter. The former is creating a sample situation that gives them a very reasonable reason to get pretty close., It’s possible that they could be a very dangerous threat if they are carrying a concealed knife,or if they are not trying to harm or involve me in their business.
Based on my experience, those who are anti-gunners are really poor when it comes to risk assessment. They always pay attention to the tools and considered it as a threat instead of the person who is carrying the firearm. People who have a gun does not mean they are dangerous, and having a firearm will be a big help to defend yourself from the attack of a bad person. Those who focus on people who openly carry a gun belong to those who are poor at risk assessment. In reality, most of the “bad guys are hiding the fact that they are dangerous, until they get the opportunity. Those kind of people are pretending to be a “good guy” and waiting until you let your guard down.
If you are concerned about identifying the “good guys” from the “bad guys,” you need to pay attention to the situation and follow your gut. Always remember that dangerous guys are always trying to create a situation that gives them an advantage. As a person, you are blessed with a great ability to read another person. If a violent person is creating some problem that is favorable to him, they will do things that will make you think, “I think he’s dangerous, you should leave.” You need to learn about how to identify those kind of situations, and don’t be paranoid. Those two important things are known as “situational awareness,” which will prevent you from focusing on the firearms and increase your ability for survival.
