Concealed Carrier Shot The Robber

June 16, 2016

In Chicago, Illinois, on the famous South State Street, a 57 year old man had a firearm held on him by a robber who was 20 years of age. The elder man managed to pull his concealed carry pistol, he shot the elbow of the robber. In retaliation, the robber got into his car, ran over the man and put him in a serious condition. DNA info said that the robber was caught by the police after seeking medical treatment at a nearby hospital.  The victim is currently in the hospital and listed in serious condition.

In a moment of stress and panic, judicious shot placement is a hard thing to do. We need to stress the importance of regular training, as well as firearm familiarity. Normally, people tend to shoot to neutralize the target, but we need to remember that the most important thing is to continue to apply judicious force and stop when the target is neutralized, retreats or even surrenders.

When we say neutralized, it means no longer poses a threat.

It’s confusing in the community of concealed carry. If a man with a gun is on the ground but keeps moving to aim, that means he’s still a threat. On the other hand, if the man retreats to his vehicle, decides to use that vehicle as a weapon, you need to use as many rounds as is necessary to save your life. Always adhere to the principles of gun safety.

For people who are hoping for a good end to this story, sadly it’s not there. I want everyone to know that it’s very important to keep standing up to these gangland crooks in Chicago. They don’t care about killing their own, others and even bystanders.

The fact that we always like to classify terrorist threats, but we never like to label guys who killed 4 people and injured another 16 in the same 24 hour period is ironic.. The irony prevails, the bloody occurrence happened few blocks away from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. It’s very difficult for Mr. Emmanuel to step out of his fancy Chicago home, especially in the morning, and make it to his armored limousine without stepping in pools of blood.

Carrying a concealed gun doesn’t give a guaranteed success. By means of training, practice and of course, proficiency, you can have the chance of defending yourself from guys who don’t take prisoners, don’t care how bad it hurts. We are hoping that the concealed carrier gets a fast recovery.
