Buying A Book Is Easier Than Buying A Gun…

Guns-Easier-to-get-than-Books

During a fundraising event in California a few days ago, President Barrack Obama was quoted stating:

It is the daily shootings that take place in cities across America [where] it is easier to buy a gun than buy a book.

It is this kind of political rhetoric that is greatly effecting the firearms community. When the elected leader of the most powerful nation on earth, and in essence the leader of the free world, states these things, it directly effects all law abiding citizens and individuals who believe in the strict human and constitutionally guaranteed right to self defense.

I bring this up simply because there are individuals, in this nation and around the world, that take these words as fact and continue to charge and misguide the American public into believing that this is true.

How confused do you have to be to think that it is easier to buy a gun than a book? First off, from a monetary standpoint, books are statistically significantly less expensive. Secondly, I have never had to submit to a background check and fill out paperwork to walk into Barnes and Noble (if those are still around) and purchase a book. Better yet, I can go to Amazon and have a book delivered to my kindle quicker than Mom’s Demand Action can SWAT a legal gun owner.

So why is it a big deal that a politician stated this to a group of donors during a campaign event? Simply put, this is the same individual that has the power to sign laws and executive actions that directly effect all law abiding and responsibly armed citizens.

How is a an individual with so much power so blinded by fiction that he is claiming these things? How can nation of free individuals allow our leader to make statements like this that directly effect the perception on the firearms community?

We are rolling into an election season with a field of candidates that is littered with individuals who share this mindset. Whomever you decide to vote for this coming year, keep firearm rights on the forefront of you mind as infringements upon this one human right and liberty can and will cascade into the others that are not only human rights, but constitutionally protected values that this great nation was founded up.
