More and more moms are arming themselves

May 3, 2016

There were 50 reported house break-ins on West University and Bellaire in Houston, Texasduring the first half of 2015. Housewives and mothers are seeking methods to defend their family and loved ones. They are attending training and seminars to prepare themselves.

“They’re knocking on the front door and if we don’t answer they go and kick in the back door,” said a mother named Meghan, also of Bellaire. Source; Click2Houston

Incidents like that encourage agroup of moms to take courses that specialize on pistols and firearms handling so they can better protect their homes, family and loved ones. Most don’t have any experience in gun firing and they are sharing experiences, and the feeling of empowerment.

Perpetrators time their home invasions during the daytime when children are returning from school. This is an instance where moms are likely to be in a situation where they have to defend their family and themselves.

It’s our opinion that this shows fantastic initiative on behalf of these mothers — who should be applauded for refusing to stand on the sidelines while they and their children may be targeted by aggressive and violent attacks. We support this initiative by these women. They should be commended for refusing to be helpless or even useless if and when their children are targeted by violent attacks.

A report by the National Rifle Association stated that as many as 12 to 17 million women own firearms. Demographically they are one of the fastest growing segments of the population in the concealed carry category.

Refusing to accept the increase in the brutality of today’s crimes does not make anyone immune to it. Those that are Anti-gun can still die from a gunshot. It pays off to be prepared, well trained and well equipped in case you’re face to face with criminals. Prevention is better than a cure. Better to have it but not need it, than needing it but not having it. If you have it, the worst thing that could happen is to use it. I can live with that.
