Anit-Gun Group Pushes for a ban on all “Assault Weapons”

This past weekend, in the wake of the atrocious terror attacks in Paris, the Violence Policy Center (VPC) has recommended that the United States push for a ban of all “assault weapons” to US citizens.
While this call has become background noise for most law-abiding citizens, this recommendation is different. The VPC, which is anti-gun non-profit organization that is known for twisting and distorting facts to fit their agenda, has renewed calls for banning firearms. They posted this to their Facebook page:
In light of new concerns over terrorism, we should rethink our policies that allow military-style assault weapons to be purchased by virtually anyone – including potential criminals and terrorists. There is no reason for assault rifles, assault pistols, and assault shotguns to be sold on the civilian market. These weapons are designed with only one purpose: to kill as many people as possible in the shortest possible amount of time.
That’s right folks. Not only should we ban assault rifles, but let’s throw in assault pistols and assault shotguns as well. Any pistol or shotgun that holds multiple rounds or fires in a semi-automatic function should be banned so that terrorists and criminals don’t get firearms.
Because the VPC is so quick to capitalize on a terror attack, we should highlight the fact that the weapons used in that attack were smuggled from eastern Europe and were illegal to own or sell in France already. Additionally, the VPC is ready to distort the true purpose of firearms to fit their agenda.
My rifle, shotgun, and pistols were designed in fact for one thing. Pushing a bullet down a barrel. These uses include target shooting, hunting, and yes self defense. Unfortunately, certain groups think that by simply labeling them as “assault weapons,” a term that individuals that want to ban firearms invented, that they can in turn stripe law abiding American’s of their natural and constitutional rights.
