TOP 4 CONCEALED CARRY AIDS

July 8, 2016

Anyone who has ever claimed they have trained enough has never really trained. Most of us cannot afford to take as many firearm classes as we wish so we train when we can, and practice at home. To maximize this effectiveness, there are a variety of different tools we can use to up our level of training.

Snap Caps

When it comes to malfunction practice there is not a better tool than Snap Caps or some form of dummy ammunition. Snap caps replicate the look and feel of a real cartridge while being safe for use inside the home. Snap caps allow users to replicate fail to fire and failure to eject malfunctions and teach to clear these malfunctions while being safe and effective. Snap caps are quite cheap often being priced 10 to 12 dollars for a pack of six. Snap caps can be found in nearly every caliber imaginable, from the 22 LR to the 50 BMG.

Snap caps are also necessary if using older revolvers with the firing pin mounted on the hammer. This will prevent that firing pin from breaking. Snap Caps are excellent low-cost training tool to teach a variety of different skills for new shooters as well, including ammunition terminology, and loading and unloading, as well as the most important function of clearing a firearm.

SIRT Pistol

If you want to spice up your training, and really step up to the next level of dry fire training the Sirt pistol is for you. The Sirt pistol replicates the look and feel of a real handgun with a laser integrated cartridge. This means every time you pull the trigger the gun ‘fires’ this laser. This can be an excellent aid in dry fire training, training to draw and fire, and pretty much everything you can do dry, you can do with the Sirt and up your game.

The Sirt allows the replication of magazine changes, and spare magazines are available on the Sirt website. The Sirt does a good job of replicating the look and feel of a modern polymer pistol at a fraction of the price. You’ll save significantly on ammunition by converting some of your training to SIRT training. The Sirt also allows totally new shooters to learn the fundamental basics in a safe manner.

Replica Gun

When it comes to basic and advanced gun handling skills a replica works wonders. A replica firearm can be a ‘blue’ gun, which is a realistic polymer representation of nearly any weapon you can imagine. This replica weapon can also be airsoft weapons that replicate realistic firearms. Basic shooters can become familiar with the way to hold a firearm, to aim, and to learn the proper nomenclature of the weapon. New shooters can do this in their homes and can learn proper trigger and muzzle discipline.

Advanced shooters can practice some more advanced weapons manipulation in a  safe manner, that doesn’t risk damaging their firearms. This includes hand to hand training for firearms retention, practicing dropping your weapon on demand, and the plastic weapon can travel with you anywhere, at any time.

Shot Timer

A shot timer is by far one of the best things a serious concealed carrier can own. A shot timer is designed to ‘hear’ your shots and time them from the timer’s go sound. Typically a shot timer is programmable to a certain amount of time between the time the start button is hit, and the timer actually starts. When the timer starts a bell rings, this bell tells the shooter to begin. This timer can be used to measure the time between shots, and time between drawing and shooting. A shot timer can add a layer of stress to the mix, and effectively allows you to track your progress.
