Expropriate wealth from the general populace is the primary duty of law enforcers. Regarding the Drug Enforcement Administration or DEA, some law enforcement agencies are glib. The DEA has a long history of theft, from medical records up to the identities. Of course, cash is king. Recently, the DEA was caught recruiting an agent of the Transportation Security Administration or TSA in order to steal cash for them.
This month, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration was officially condemned by the watchdog of the Department of Justice, including the report that the agency had recruited an SA security screener, search bags for cash that the DEA could get.
According to the summary of the investigation, the office of the Inspector General in DOJ concluded, the agreement violated DEA policy in many levels. On the other hand, the OIG determined, the TSA informant never provided any actionable information to the DEA. In conclusion, the plans to pay the agent from the cash he/she helped seize, could have violated the protection of individuals against unreasonable searches, as well as seizures, that’s if it led to a subsequent enforcement action by DEA.
The OIG questioning the propriety of an arrangement, TSA agent would use his/her power in order to tip off the DEA to the presence of money in the luggage of travelers, as well as receive compensation from how profitable that information was for the agency.
Remember, the partnership of the DEA and the other government is not unusual. On the other hand, the blatant partnership aimed expressly. Stealing cash from air travelers is surely brazen even for the DEA.
The question is, what will happen now? In case that the history is any indicator, nothing will happen, that’s why corrupt shot like this one never ends. If nobody in the DEA is punished for doing shit like this, the agency will continue doing what they do for so long. Other government agencies are not going to actually issue punishments where they are due, why? The DEA is a money maker of the State, that’s the main reason.
