A 91-year-old Michigan man got out of his car in the parking lot of a Rite-Aid and was approached by Richard Ashbury, who pointed an object at him. The elderly man warned Ashford that he had a concealed pistol, but the robber kept following him toward the store, Fearing that he was about to be robbed, the elderly man drew his concealed carry pistol and shot Ashford in the neck causing him to run away. Police eventually caught up to Ashford and tool him into custody.

In another incident involving an elderly concealed carrier, a burglar broke into an 82 year-old man’s home in Elsinore, MO. After being assaulted by the intruder, the elderly man shot the intruder in self-defense, causing him to run out of the house. The intruder, identified as 30 year old Charles Whit, was found and taken into custody while he was being treated for a gunshot wound  to the arm at a local hospital.

Criminals often prey on the elderly because they are usually easy targets that cannot defend themselves. For this reason, senior citizens should consider concealed carry classes to get licensed to carry a handgun. An armed senior citizen is in the best position to defend themselves.

Two intruders broke into the home a 91 year-old man and his wife. One held the wife, who was wheelchair bound, at gunpoint while the other ripped the phone off the wall to prevent them from calling police. The elderly man grabbed hi .38 revolver and fired at the intruder holding his wife at gunpoint while the other intruder took off running.

The sad fact of reality is that the older you get, the more likely it is that you will need to defend yourself! Criminals don’t go after the biggest, strongest targets; they go after the easy, weaker targets. So the older we get, the more aware of our surroundings we need to be and the more we need to be prepared to defend ourselves.
